J.R. Music Video Inspiration

MUSIC VIDEO INSIPRATION

Duke Dumont feat A*M*E - Need U (100%)

I think that the main appeal of this music video to me is the way in which it is narrative based following someone's life, yet unlike indie/alternative music video productions this music video illustrates a more comical approach to the interpretation of the lyrics. I also like the way in which there are many different characters shown dancing, I believe that this is a classic way in which dance videos conform to their genre therefore could be a crucial aspect to our own music video production. In addition to this we see that the location is not fixed throughout the music video which is something I would like to adapt in our music video, almost creating a compilation style of music video despite the fact a narrative is present throughout.

Skream & Example - Shot Yourself In The Foot Again

This music video once again holds a narrative based quality to it, and what I especially like about this music video is the way in which a montage edit is placed together, of the characters going out. However the main appeal to this music video is the way in which the beat of the track motivates the cuts of the video, something that I believe personally is very important in producing a successful music video as doing this will make the look of the music video feel more smooth cut. After looking into the title of the song we have chosen 'Break My Fall' a music video with reference to a relationship maybe an ideal starting point, as illustrated above in this music video we could create two parallel lines of actions looking into the thoughts and emotions of the two different characters.

Maverick Sabre - I Need

Looking into this video I really like some of the editing techniques used, for example the old 'rustic' effect placed over the top of the video, shows memories connoting old home footage as such. In addition I like the idea of following someone as they travel, and using this old edit to show their memories. A editing technique I would also like to consider using when creating our own video is shown at 0:48-0:50 and is a light orange/yellow lighting effect, this typically conforms to a summer feeling which could potentially help out our group as if we are choosing to use a upbeat summer song then this would help us fix the problem we could possibly have with the weather, as when we shoot it will be the begging of winter, therefore this effect may enhance the link we make to the upbeat summer ideology that is held within the Dance music Industry.

  1. Very useful post regarding inspiration for our music video Jack. Possibly highlight some of the key terms.
